Matias Rivas is a professional dancer who has emerged as a leading
interpreter of Malambo, a unique and highly specialized dance form
based on the Argentinian gaucho tradition.
His level of expertise in this unique field has taken him to the semi-finals
of the TV Show America’s got talent with the group Malevo in 2016, being
this named an official “Cultural Ambassador to the National Identity of
On the same year, he also joined the prestigious company Che Malambo
then represented by IMG Artists. Since then, he has performed in a
number of prestigious international venues in more than 15 countries,
including New York’s Joyce Theater, the Casino de Paris, the Carpenter
Center for the Arts at California State University, the Vogue Theatre in
Vancouver, and the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture in Saudi
Matias also founded his own Malambo company in Argentina called La
Tropilla Malambo (Troupe Malambo) being one of the first companies to
include women in this type of art. Troupe Malambo has performed
multiple shows in Argentina and United States.
Matias Rivas has become a leader and inspiration for the whole
community of dancers in Argentina. His goal is to be able to continue to
represent and export his home country’s cultural arts while training and providing work opportunities for other talented dancers as well.
